This week, ‘Straight Blunt’, a new podcast in Times Square, New York City, interviewed the legendary Los Angeles-native rapper, Ras Kass. Getting the new generation up to speed, Ras Kass shares his background and beginning—working with the likes of Dr Dre and Premier, his incarceration, living in a gang-centric neighbourhood, and his beef with Alchemist and The Game.
Apparently, Alchemist sold/gave the beat to Jadakiss. During the interview, he recalls Funkmaster Flex dropping bombs on the ‘We Gonna Make It’ beat on HOT 97. Later, the show host picked their top rappers from the supergroup of Kurupt, Canibus, Killah Priest, and Ras Kass (HRSMN). Now, he has a new group called, Jamo Gang (Ras Kass, El Gant, and J57).
The guys also share their thoughts on the GRAMMYs, JAY Z’s eight nominations, the direction of where music is going, the #MeToo Movement, Eminem losing fans, critiquing ‘4:44’, and more. Out of the new/young artists today, J57 would like to work with Dave East. Before his breakthrough, Ras Kass shared he did a Kendrick Lamar a favour.
